Holy Covenant Child Development Center was
established as an outreach ministry of Holy Covenant United Methodist Church to provide an opportunity
for toddler and preschool children to work, play, and learn
in a loving, and happy Christian environment. The church and school share a common philosophy of meeting the needs of children through the power of Christ.
To provide a stress-free environment that supports initiative, creativity, autonomy, and self-esteem.
To help children grow in faith by demonstrating God's unconditional love and acceptance in our attitudes and actions.
To provide activities based on current child development theory.
To provide opportunities for children to learn about fairness, independence, cooperation, trust, self-control, empathy, sharing and kindness.
To allow children to explore and be actively involved in their world while pursuing their own interests and creativity.
Preschool classes at Holy Covenant are set up on consecutive days. This is a fairly new concept for preschool but has worked quite well. The children benefit from this arrangement by adjusting to preschool more quickly and current brain development research shows that children who repeat an activity within 24 hours are more likely to remember the activity. The transition to kindergarten (five consecutive days!) is also easier.
